Financial support for the Commission is provided through the District of Columbia Access to Justice Foundation, a 501(c)(3) created for the purpose of raising and receiving funds for the Commission. The Foundation has a separate Board of Directors which is responsible for securing donations to support the Commission’s work and providing general oversight over the Foundation’s financial and other operations. Neither the Foundation nor the Commission receives any public funds and therefore relies entirely on local law firms and individuals for donations.
The Commission is fortunate to have the generous and steadfast support of a number of leading law firms and other private donors. The Commission is also profoundly grateful for vital in–kind support provided by a number of leading law firms and other entities. Sidley Austin LLP provides the Commission with donated office space, equipment, and office services and hosts Commission meetings. DLA Piper is the Commission’s pro bono research counsel and has provided invaluable support on Commission legal needs reports. Arent Fox provides pro bono legislative counsel. Ernst & Young provides pro bono support for the Commission’s Raising the Bar in D.C. campaign. Censeo Consulting provides project management and information management support. The Commission could not be effective without the generous assistance of these organizations, and many more.
